As many others will attest, the recent meeting of the Heads of Jurisdictions, linked with the second meeting of the Sancti Lazari Ordinis Academia Internationalis, and especially the solemn pilgrimage to Monreale, was an exceptional spiritual as well as leadership opportunity for all who were in attendance.
The ability of our Order to engage in scholarly investigation into our history provided us with a renewed and newfound appreciation of the past, as a presage for our future.
Of particular delight to all, was the presence and engagement of our Grand Master, HE Don Carlos Gereda y de Borbon, Marquis de Almazan; together with our Grand Master Emeritus, HE Don Francisco de Borbon y Escasany, Duke of Seville and Grandee of Spain; and our Spiritual Protector, His Beatitude Gregorius III Latham. It was a visual as well as philosophical acknowledgement of our Order’s dual mission — spiritual and secular.
We were privileged to have more than twenty members and spouses from the Grand Priory of America in attendance, to join our colleagues in St. Lazarus for our formal program and events, and to enjoy the environs of Palermo and Sicily.
